Stabilizing Special Education Systems Through Leadership, Compliance, and Strategic Support

Comprehensive support across the full continuum of Special Education Services (Birth–22)

Our Philosophy

CompassPoint SPED is guided by a simple belief:

When people understand where they are and where they’re going, they make better decisions.

Through clarity, collaboration, and thoughtful guidance, CompassPoint SPED helps families and school systems move toward solutions that are compliant, practical, and centered on students.

Our Expereince

Leadership Experience Across States, Contexts, and Communities

CompassPoint SPED’s approach is grounded in more than 20 years of experience in special education, spanning multiple IDEA reauthorizations and over a decade of executive-level leadership across diverse educational systems, including:

  • Multi-district special education cooperatives

  • Affluent and high-need districts

  • Linguistically and culturally diverse communities

  • Infant–Toddler, early childhood and school-age systems

  • Part C and Part B programs and transition processes

This breadth of experience shapes CompassPoint SPED’s work. Recommendations are never theoretical or generic. They are grounded in an understanding that compliance, staffing, family engagement, and implementation look different depending on context, resources, and community needs.

Our Story

Guiding Clarity Through Complexity

CompassPoint Special Education Consulting exists to help families and education systems navigate special education with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Special education is complex by design. It is governed by detailed regulations, layered systems, and high-stakes decisions that directly impact students and families. Too often, those complexities create confusion, conflict, or reactive decision-making. CompassPoint SPED was founded to bring calm, strategic guidance into those moments, helping people find direction when the path feels unclear.

Students at the Center

CompassPoint is grounded in the belief that special education works best when students are at the center of every decision.

Compliance, systems, and procedures matter — but only when they meaningfully support student access, growth, and dignity. CompassPoint approaches every engagement with a student-centered lens, recognizing that outcomes are not one-size-fits-all. Progress looks different for every child, and effective support must be responsive to each student’s strengths, needs, and educational context.

Rather than promising outcomes that no single person or system can control, CompassPoint focuses on helping families and organizations make informed, thoughtful decisions that support appropriate services, access, and implementation.

A Bridge Between Families and Systems

CompassPoint works at the intersection of families and education systems.

Families are often navigating special education for the first time while carrying emotional weight, urgency, and uncertainty. School systems are responsible for implementing complex regulations across diverse contexts, resources, and student populations. CompassPoint helps bridge that gap by translating processes, clarifying expectations, and supporting collaboration.

Services are intentionally designed to reduce chaos, support preparation, and promote constructive communication, whether that means helping a family prepare for an IEP meeting or supporting a district through a high-stakes compliance process.

Calm, Strategic Leadership

CompassPoint brings a calm, strategic approach to situations that often feel overwhelming.

Whether supporting families through complex decisions or helping systems respond to audits, complaints, or programmatic challenges, the focus remains on clarity, organization, and forward movement. The goal is not to escalate conflict, but to help people understand options, responsibilities, and next steps so they can act with confidence.

All CompassPoint services are consultative and non-legal in nature, designed to support preparation, understanding, and decision-making rather than advocacy through confrontation.
